Alongside this intense action, the film also touches on themes of innocence, nature, and spiritual faith, showing how communities come together and move forward.
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam (2025) Movie Review | Balakrishna's spiritual action spectacle
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam (2025) is a high-voltage action drama that blends fantasy, spirituality, and mass elements with Balakrishna leading the show in a powerful dual role.
Performances :
Balakrishna delivers his best, playing two contrasting characters. The second role exists mainly for songs and to set up the conflict that brings Akhanda into the story. But as Akhanda, Balayya is the soul of the film—raw, intense, and god-like. His transformation, body language, and commitment make the character truly unforgettable.
Aadhi Pinisetty appears as one of the antagonists, but his role is underwritten and adds very little to the narrative. Samyuktha Menon and Saswata Chatterjee are also wasted in roles that contribute almost nothing to the plot. Harshali Malhotra gets a decent role and did a decent job.
Technical Departments:
Thaman S’s music and background score are the biggest strengths of Akhanda 2, elevating the mass moments with twice the impact. C. Ram Prasad’s cinematography is impressive and supports the film’s visual storytelling. The VFX team deserves appreciation—especially for a few sequences in the second half that are executed very well and enhance the overall experience.
However, the editing by Thammiraju is a major drawback. The first half feels uneven, drags frequently, and could have been trimmed significantly.
Writing & Direction :
Writer-director Boyapati Sreenu, who previously delivered a hat-trick blockbuster with Balakrishna, once again brings an intense fantasy action drama packed with mass moments and powerful dialogues. But the first half feels like filler content with random fights, songs, and character introductions. The film only takes off with the electrifying interval block featuring Akhanda’s entry.
The second half is designed to thrill—with mass dialogues, crazy action sequences, and a few genuine goosebumps moments. Some ideas look fresh and impressive on the big screen, but the writing remains formulaic. Boyapati needs to rethink his approach; otherwise, the repetition may start working against him.
Highlights Of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam (2025) :
✅ One man show by Balakrishna as Akhanda --- Pure mental mass
✅ Strong vfx sequence in second half
✅ A few crazy, whistle-worthy action blocks
✅ Roaring bgm throughout the film that compliments elevations
✅ Themes of Spiritual faith, nature and togetherness
Drawbacks Of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam (2025) :
❌ Flat and stretched first half
❌ Over the top action sequences
❌ Weak and underwritten antagonists
❌ Supporting cast adds very little
❌ Predictable plot progression
❌ Lack of strong emotion depth
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam (2025) Final Verdict :
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is a ambitious, action drama filled with mass elements, drama and message about Sanatana Dharma.
It has both high points and weak moments. But overall, the film becomes a satisfactory watch purely because of Balakrishna’s mass presence and Thaman’s impactful score.
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam (2025) Viewer's Rating : 2.5/5
